Our flagship website as of yet, a portal and community for professional photographers with lots of, lots of options and functions all built on open source. Using open source systems can seriously reduce the time and cost of the development of a more complicated website like a shop for example compared to if someone would want to program all the great features from scratch.
The design is very simple to keep the attention focused on the content and we dressed the site in relaxed, non-disturbing colors to provide a pleasant environment for the visitors.
RSS feeds are generated dynamically from just about every component, like the bazaar or forum. For cross-marketing purposes we exchanged feeds with our other photographic website, the D-Carrier.net. The benefits of this is not only to lure one site's visitors to the other but also multiple and regularly updated incoming links to the newest pages for faster and more accurate indexing by the robots of various important search engines.
